It’s Time

I finely gathered the stuff to make the Mississippi slow cooker pot roast or Butter roast.
an approx 2 1/2 lb. chuck roast (its the right size for my crockpot)
1 (dry) packet of Good Seasons Ranch Dressing
1 (dry) packet of McCormick au jus
1 stick unsalted butter (opted for this since i figure there’s plenty of salt in those packet thingies)
5-6 pepperocini peppers
I only found a 2 pound roast and have salted butter so I figure I’ll only use half a stick and add a little water. I also brought some potatoes and carrots and thought I’d throw an onion in too. I’m also going to cut back on the ranch dressing because some people said it made the vegetables too salty. I worry about changing the recipe because Julia Child said no substitutions and I’m sure she’s right. Now we’ll see if I can eat a 2 pound roast in one sitting.Of course if someone brought some rolls over I would share. Anyone out there brave enough ?

  1. Well fudge ! After 8 hours the meats still hard and the carrots are not done and I’ve over cooked the toast. I’m cooking a tv dinner, next time I’ll go to taco bell. Maybe it’ll be done for breakfast.

    • Pot roast is now perfect, shame it’s 10 o’clock. Should have cooked it on high even thou the directions said cook it on low. Guess I’ll have to put it in the ice box until tomorrow.
